About Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam:

Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen "A. P. J." Abdul Kalam (15 October 1931 – 27 July 2015) served as the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007. He was also known as the Missile Man. Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam remained unmarried throughout his life and passed away at Bethany Hospital, Shillong, Meghalaya, due to heart failure after collapsing during a lecture at the Indian Institute of Management, Shillong.

Awards and Achievements:

• Recipient of the Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan, and Bharat Ratna awards from the Government of India in 1981, 1990, and 1997 respectively.
• Honored by the Government of India with the Indira Gandhi Award for National Integration in 1997 and the Veer Savarkar Award the next year.
• Awarded the Ramanujan Award by The Alwars Research Centre, Chennai in 2000.
